Why convert a video?
MOV files from iPhones and Macs don’t always play on Windows, Android or older TVs, especially when they use HEVC (H.265). Converting to MP4 with H.264 makes them play almost everywhere.
WebM files, often created by browsers and screen recorders, are not accepted by some editing apps and Apple devices. MP4 solves this. In the other direction, WebM is useful for publishing video on websites.

Full conversion runs on your device, which is private but slower than a dedicated server. On a computer it can take about as long as the video itself; phones are slower. It works best with clips of a few minutes.

Why was my conversion so fast?
Your video already used H.264, so we could copy it into an MP4 without re-encoding. The quality is identical to the original.
Can I convert iPhone videos (HEVC) to MP4?
Yes. HEVC videos are re-encoded to H.264, which is the most compatible video format.
Is quality lost?
In fast mode, no. In full conversion, the video is re-encoded at a high quality setting, and the difference is usually hard to see.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser.
